SlideShow

Patrick Heron studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London 1932 - 37. His early work was influenced by George Braque and Henri Matisse but in the mid-50's became more abstract. Heron's work developed to an analysis of natural forms and colours and from his abstract works , particularly those made up of horizontal or vertical stripes to his softer edged shapes, he regularly used colour to express the pleasure of sight as one of the most important human senses. Although working in the European tradition, one can also see aspects of Pollock, Rothko and De Conning in Heron's work.
